Accounting Manager
Uses professional accounting concepts and internal company policies to solve complex accounting issues including the maintenance of internal controls. Participates in and implements monthly financial close, supervises the assignments of the staff accountants to include general ledger, accounts payable and fixed assets. Prepares monthly management financial reporting package and executive summary schedules. Coordinates and facilitates the process of documenting accounting policies and procedures.

Bookkeeper
Records organization's business transactions and retains all accounting records. Independently prepares a trial balance and is capable of working with accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll. Can prepare month-end journal entries and may perform various reconciliations, including statements, invoices, vouchers, bank and general ledger accounts. Submits reports of business financial operations. Must be proficient with computerized accounting software and be able to produce financial statements for review by a CPA.

Chief Accounting Officer
Responsibilities include the development, implementation, and administration of accounting policies as well as investor communications and earnings releases. Will oversee the corporation’s accounting and financial controls functions, including SEC and regulatory reports, as well as the preparation of corporate income tax returns.

Controller
Functions as the chief accounting executive responsible for organizing, directing and controlling the work of the accounting personnel in collecting, summarizing and interpreting financial data for the use of management, creditors, investors and taxing authorities. Directs budget and cost controls and accounting practices. Supervises exempt and non-exempt accounting staff. As a member of the top management team, helps develop forecasts for proposed projects of the organization, measures actual performance against operating plans and standards and interprets the results of operations for all levels of management. This may be the top level in a mid-size company, or report to the CFO in a very large company.

Cost Accountant
Directs staff responsible for developing and modifying the cost accounting system. Develops product costing techniques, institutes cost control measures, ensures timely and accurate labor, material and overhead reports, supervises special cost studies and periodically reviews allocation of overhead costs.

Director of Accounting
Typically responsible for a segment of the overall cost accounting system and is often assigned special or project cost studies including gross profit margin analyses. Examines any costs that seem contrary to past experience. Organizes cost accounting functions prior to physical inventory. Produces cost accounting or operating reports.

Public Accountant
Second level of management. Responsible for overall management of the audit or tax engagement which includes supervision of senior and staff, identification of accounting or tax issues and development and maintenance of client relationships.

Staff Accountant
Responsibilities include preparing journal entries, account reconciliation, as well as documenting and evaluating current procedures. Areas of focus include general accounting, fixed assets, and trend analysis. Other duties include review and reconciliation of balance sheets and income statements. Demonstrates initiative in understanding process flows and controls.

Tax Accountant
Works under the direction of a senior accountant or accounting manager, performing detailed work assignments in one or several of the following areas: tax accounting, receivables, payables, payroll, property, general ledger and financial reporting. Sets up and retains organization’s tax records. Files tax returns and prepares related reports.

VP, Accounting
Designs, documents and implements appropriate policies, procedures and internal controls to facilitate the production and enhance the quality of all accounting processes and systems. Responsible for attesting to the accuracy of all division/regional reports including the monthly financial statements (balance sheet, income statement and gross margin reports). Oversees all operational reporting as required.
