Consultant of the Quarter: Nana Asante, Hartford

Dedication and quick mastery of United Technologies Corporation’s complex sales tax environment have earned Nana Asante the title of Kforce Consultant of the Quarter.

Asante’s efforts did not go unnoticed by his colleagues and superiors at the publicly held manufacturer, whose products include Carrier, Hamilton Sundstrand, Otis, Pratt & Whitney, Sikorsky, UTC Fire & Security, and UTC Power.  Described as bringing out the best in everyone around him, he was soon promoted to sales tax audit, where he continued to excel.

“Nana was able to quickly grasp the various sales tax concepts, theories, and understand the different types of tax returns that vary from state to state.  An often difficult task, Nana was able to achieve this in a short period of time,” said Gary DaCosta, sales tax supervisor, UTC.  “Working with Nana has been a great experience for myself and the rest of the tax department.  His professional approach, to everything, has been a cherished value for all of UTC Tax.”

It didn’t take long before the Fortune 50 Company rewarded Asante’s efforts with another promotion, this time to his current position as Analyst, SALT Accounting & Forecasting.

Asante’s success can be attributed to more than just his ability to learn new tasks quickly; his work ethic and focus on team work and efficiency is one that personifies what it means to be a Kforce consultant.

“He is just a great example of what can be accomplished as a consultant, and has represented Kforce with the utmost professionalism,” said Cynthia M. Bryant, Hartford, Connecticut market manager for Kforce Finance & Accounting.

For Asante, success as a consultant is about leaving things better than when he arrived.

“Your goal has to be to do more and to do it more efficiently.  If you can do things to make other peoples’ jobs better or more efficient, you need to find a way to do that.  You always have to look at the big picture when you talk about value; it can’t just be something that benefits you,” he said.  “If you put others before yourself, in the end it will come back around.”
