Consultant of the Quarter: Keith Karlberg
With loyalty and flexibility among his top attributes, Keith Karlberg is a client’s dream consultant—and the newest Kforce Consultant of the Quarter.
Currently a special projects guru for HD Supply, a leading wholesale distribution company where he has been supporting the finance department since March of 2009, Karlberg has been with Kforce since 1998. He has been placed in three temporary positions, all of which have led to permanent placements.
Beginning his tenure at HD Supply as a replacement to an employee on leave of absence, Karlberg quickly mastered his work with bank reconciliations. When his temporary position neared an end, his superior recognized his mastery of the reconciliations and asked him to stay.
His engagement has since been extended multiple times. His responsibilities have expanded to include updating bank reconciliations to the company’s new automated online reconciliation tool and monitoring the daily banking activities for the company.
“The Maitland team nominated Keith because of his commitment to [his] engagements, positive attitude and flexibility. He always makes them shine and clients love his skill, experience and flexibility,” said Kirsten Lynch, Karlberg’s Maitland, FL-based Kforce account manager. “The hiring manager at HD Supply was aware of Keith’s nomination and verbally expressed his support... stating Keith is the kind of employee who deserves recognition.”
Karlberg attributes his success to his versatility, dependability and ability to keep an open mind.
“Be willing to be versatile,” said Karlberg. “If you take a position with a narrow mind and lots of restrictions about what you want to do and when you want to do it, you won’t last. You never know when a temporary position will turn into a permanent placement. My advice to fellow consultants: be open to things you may not typically be fond of working on. Once you establish yourself with a company, one job can lead to another. Never rule anything out.”
For Karlberg, his time with Kforce has been a blessing. With three temporary placements converting to permanent positions and typically only a couple of weeks between jobs, Karlberg says he considers the firm's timeliness in placements and the quality of its professional staff to be among their most reputable qualities.
To anyone looking for a job, Karlberg suggests considering the possibility of temporary employment.
“It has worked out great for me,” he said, “and my time with Kforce has been nothing but positive.”
