Description: Our client, an exciting retail organization in NYC seeks a Financial Reporting Director. This individual would be required to manage and direct the activities of the manager of external Reporting. In addition, this position will review the work of and provide guidance to the Company's associates (centralized accounting function). This position must be able to understand the day to day operations of the Company in order to effectively provide accounting guidance.
The responsibilities of this position include the following:
- This position would be the primary liaison to the Company's independent auditors
- This person will be the primary liaison to the Company's outside actuary in the determination of pension and postretirement costs
- This position is responsible for accounting for the Company's derivatives in accordance with SFAS No. 133 (options, forwards, interest rate swaps, net investment hedges, etc.)
- The position is responsible for the calculation of stock based compensation expense in accordance with SFAS No. 123R

Requirements: The skills, experience, and education required for this position include the following:
- Strong accounting skills
- Strong technical ability (FASB, GAAP pronouncements and SEC reporting)
- Good organizational skills
- Must be able to work and interact well with others
- Ability to accept direction, while capable of bringing tasks to completion
- Must be able to work overtime during quarter end reporting periods
- This position must be capable of understanding the consolidation function, including inter-company profit eliminations and foreign exchange translation
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required with a minimum of 7-10 years of accounting experience (combination of public accounting experience and private company experience is preferred)
- Must possess strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Technical Skills, Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:
- CPA is required
- Must be competent in Excel and Word
- Strong spreadsheet skills are a plus
