Description:  The Quality Assurance (QA) Analyst is a member of the IT software development or systems team and works closely with the other QA analysts, business clients, and IT technologists during the design, development, and test phases of software development and systems deployments. The QA analyst may perform the following functions:
  • Refining client business requirements
  • Developing test cases and test scripts by analyzing available business and technical requirements
  • Supporting user acceptance tests conducted by clients
  • Designing, implementing, and maintaining manual and/or automated test scripts
  • Identifying and tracking defects and their resolutions
  • Developing and evaluating software, hardware, and end-user documentation
  • Acting as a documentation librarian
  • Participating in formal or informal reviews to determine quality
Requirements:  The QA Analyst should have excellent written and oral communication skills, and the demonstrated ability to solve problems, work well with others, and self-motivate. The Quality Assurance Analyst should have:
  • A minimum of two (2) years of full-time experience working on quality control tasks
  • General knowledge of different application development platforms such as web, mainframe, and distributed
  • Experience with querying relational databases
  • Experience with developing system documentation, particularly system requirements documents
  • Experience with testing applications. This should include developing and performing functional and system level test cases, identifying defects, tracking resolution of problems, and retesting defect corrections
  • Broad understanding of a system development methodology, security requirements (including FISMA and SOX), testing strategies, quality assurance methods, and documentation requirements
