Description:  A world class financial services company that is experiencing growth is seeking an Expatriate Tax Associate in Jersey City, NJ. Responsibilities for this role include performing the following duties:
  • Review of International Compensation
  • Review of Tax Returns and Tax Equalizations
  • Preparation of Individual Cost Projections for new expatriates
  • Assisting various business units in determining the most cost effective way to transfer an employee overseas
  • Engaging in discussions with current and former expatriates regarding their tax affairs
  • Conducting pre-assignment consultation meetings
  • Being involved in the preparation of letters to and discussions with various taxing organizations
  • Working with Payroll to ensure proper reporting of income and advising on withholding issues
  • Providing assistance with the creation and updating of authorization lists
  • Providing assistance with group metrics and reporting
  • Being involved in the preparation of Gross-up calculations
  • Serving as the liaison with the external accounting firm, with regional offices on various expatriate tax matters, and with relocation staff
Requirements:  A Bachelor's degree is required, preferably with an Accounting or Finance major. The candidate will also need 2-3 years of expatriate tax experience. Experience in the preparation of and review of expatriate tax returns, with review of tax notices and with tax examinations, is required. Candidates must have an interest in international tax law, strong interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work autonomously. Experience with Excel and Access is preferred. Experience with an expatriate tax program for a corporation is preferred but not required. Experience with Executive Compensation payments to determine appropriate withholding for expatriates is required.
