Title:  Online Copy Editor/ Editorial Project Coordinator

Description:  Our client is seeking an Online Copy Editor / Editorial Project Coordinator. They are the fast-paced eBusiness department within the Client. They create and maintain websites and other digital products with a team committed to best practices and strategic objectives. They work with the Client's major lines of businesses such as life insurance, real estate, annuities, mutual funds, retirement services, institutional investment functions; they also interface with human resources, global communications, branding, advertising, and non-profit functions. Main responsibilities include:
  • Copy editing and proofreading web pages following the Chicago Manual and house style guide
  • Coordinating, trafficking, and checking content/design updates to the main enterprise website and other smaller marketing sites
  • Supporting the legal and compliance review process for all published content
  • Coordination is approximately 40 percent of job; copy editing/proofreading is approximately 60 percent. The text is mostly educational personal financial-planning content in the areas of retirement, insurance, investments, and other topics. Light to medium copy editing is typically required to create the required engaging copy
  • Final candidates will need to take a brief copy-editing test during the interview process
This is a three month contract, with a high chance of renewals.
Requirements:  The skills, experience, and education required for this position include the following:
  • A minimum of three years and preferably five+ years of full-time experience copy editing online content
  • A minimum of ten years as working as a copy editor, plus experience as a proofreader
  • Great attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate, up-to-date records
  • The ability to manage several projects at different stages of development
  • Communication and analytical skills to negotiate with various stakeholders
  • Advanced copy-editing and proofreading skills
  • Expert-level experience with Chicago Manual of Style (preferred), or expert-level experience with AP, New York Times, or Words into Type style guides and ability
