Description: This position resides within Enterprise Systems Services Support which focuses on infrastructure support and automation, server alert management and configuration, as well as installing alert management software and configuring for operating, application, and database level monitoring. The groups overall responsibility focuses on ensuring all production and backup servers are monitored.
The Monitoring Engineer will be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in a variety of enterprise management technologies, primarily with the current versions of IBM Tivoli Monitoring (ITM) and Netcool products, including OMNIbus, Impact, TBSM, and ITNM/IP.
Responsibilities include:
- Administer and provide software support for Monitoring tools
- Perform basic customization and implementations with any of the tool suites
- Provide assistance to Command Center and other customers with the use of the tools
- Supporting the project team and customers
- Analyze and transform operational and/or functional needs into solutions while remaining compliant with regulations, policies and procedures document description of system parameters and integrate those parameters to opt
- Alternate with other team members in an off-hours on-call rotations, support Tivoli tools and processes

Requirements: The skills, experience, and knowledge required to be considered for this position include (items are required unless noted otherwise):
- Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the current versions of ITM, ITNM, and the Netcool suite including design, implementation, advanced configuration, management, and administration
- Familiarity with LAN/MAN/WAN technologies
- Solid working knowledge of both Windows and Unix Operating Systems, file and directory structures, commands, command-line interfaces, and utilities
- Solid Unix shell and/or Perl scripting and Windows bat file skills
- Solid understanding of SNMP, in both the Unix and Windows environments
- Innovative analytical thinker; applies technical knowledge/creativity to deliver best possible results, not merely satisfactory results
- Understanding of computer resource utilization and measurement
- Very strong troubleshooter
- Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written
- Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills, to facilitate interactions with business customers and members of other T2 teams
