Description:  Our client is seeking a Financial Reporting Manager. The responsibilities of this position include the following:
  • Prepare/update FRS data load requirements to gather information for disclosure in the annual and quarterly combined financial reports, ensuring FRS information gathered meets current SEC/U.S GAAP, regulatory, and best practice industry financial Reporting disclosure requirements, which include but are not limited to derivatives, fair value, mortgage-backed SECurities and other-than-temporary impairment
  • Review financial data including financial statements submitted by the Banks (via FRS and Excel templates) and prepare/review necessary disclosures in the combined financial reports
  • Ensure follow up is performed with the appropriate Bank personnel for any unusual amounts or discrepancies between financial statements and financial disclosure data
  • Work to ensure that the pre-established and agreed-upon timeline for the distribution of the combining statements, draft report and publication of the quarterly and annual financial reports is met
  • Supervise the review of the printer draft of the quarterly and annual combined financial reports including the combining statements to ensure accuracy
  • Work to ensure that comments on the draft combined financial reports from the Client Banks, external auditors, regulator and bond counsel have been addressed prior to publication
  • Serve as a point of contact for the external auditors during their review of the combined financial reports. Coordinate external audit efforts to ensure timely review and audit of the combined financial reports
  • Assist with the Client's comment letter response process relating to the combined financial reports
  • Assist in the coordination and implementation of the FRS conversion/upgrades, as necessary, which includes: assisting with the creation/maintenance of the project plan, establishing business requirements, preparing and executing test plans, creating reports.
Requirements:  The skills, experience, and education required for this position include the following:
  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university
  • Designation as a Certified Public Accountant with a minimum of 8-10 years of relevant work experience
  • Big 4 experience and/or relevant SEC/banking experience required, including mortgage banking experience
  • Knowledge of U.S. GAAP and accounting and financial reporting statement issues including experience with SEC rules and regulations relating to banking and mortgage banking
  • Strong technical and research skills
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, organizational, project management and problem- solving skills
  • Supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of banking and mortgage banking industry regulations
  • Proficiency with PCs and related software including Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • The ability to initiate and complete work assignments effectively and in a timely manner, with minimal supervision
  • The ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management and staff, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines and maintain a high level of performance
  • Ability to influence various Client Bank accounting personnel to reach consensus on application of accounting policies
  • Professional, service-oriented demeanor
  • Strong SEC reporting experience
