Description: A major client, located in New York City, is seeking an experienced System Administrator.
Job Responsibilities:
Tool Smiting:
- Automation of software builds and deployment
- Administer, maintain, and monitor servers for many clients in multiple locations in the NYC area including the central hosting facility
- Ensure corporate and client environments are operational and available on a 24/7 basis
System Performance Analysis and Tuning:
- Be responsible for day-to-day maintenance including user account management and security, data back-up and recovery, installation of systems and software, installation of system patches, and collaborating with team members on issue resolutions
- Document systems, configurations, and operational instructions
- Develop proposals for recommending upgrades for software / hardware
- Plan for sizing and scaling of servers
Environment:
- Servers: UNIX, Linux, NT/2000 Servers, and VMware
- Software: Application Servers, Apache, SMTP, MS Exchange, Back Exec, and Veritas
- databases: Oracle, DB2, MSSQL, and MySQL
- SAN: EMC and NetApp

Requirements: The skills, experience, and education required for this position include the following:
- A minimum of 5+ years of related experience
- Expertise in UNIX, Linux, and Windows hardware / software troubleshooting techniques and enterprise infrastructure support
- Knowledge and/or experience in LANs, WANs, and security
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, related discipline, or the equivalent in training and experience
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
