Description: A leading publicly traded $1 Billion plus Information services firm seeks a Java Developer. The Java Developer is primarily responsible for designing and developing enhancements to the Business Systems. The Developer is expected to help define requirements and to design and develop new services and features, in a high pace, challenging environment. We are looking for a strong technical individual who is comfortable utilizing cutting edge technologies and both Waterfall and Agile methodologies. The Java Developer reports to the Technical Project Manager.
Responsibilities:
- Implement new features and bug fixes
- Diagnose bugs and formulate strategies to address them
- Take ownership of technical issues, implementing fixes and shepherding them through the testing process
- Assist in defining and reviewing requirements and use cases for the application
- Perform the detailed design of application and technical architecture components
- Complete appropriate documentation required by the Technical Manager, testers, deployment team and application management team
- Understand data models and distill into reportable data
- Participate in code and peer reviews
- Other tasks as needed

Requirements: Skills:
- Bachelors Degree in a Technical Field
- 2+ years minimum of experience in software development
- Strong experience with Java, REST Web-services, MySQL, Linux, and associated utilities, as well as web-page design
Good problem solving skills:
- Able to logically break down a problem into smaller manageable parts to solve
- Proficient in database modeling and SQL
- Ability to work independently with minimal assistance
- Spring, Hibernate, AJAX, CSS, PHP or Ruby experience is desired
- Experience in development of online educational systems is highly desired
