Description:  A major Pharmaceutical Services Firm is seeking a Network Engineer and Administrator to be responsible for infrastructure technology. This position will be reporting to the Global IT Manager. This person will be responsible for the implementation and administration of all Windows 2000/2003 Active Directory network servers and devices; LAN/WAN network troubleshooting; diagnosis and resolution of PC hardware and software problems; client side hardware and software upgrades and support; and the management of various server related tasks with the ability to lead IT projects. Day-to-day tasks include setting up systems and servers, web administration, email troubleshooting, SQL Server support, creating documentation, desktop imaging, and managing backup systems. This person will assist with desktop issues, set up, printers, etc. This role will resolve Windows XP and Vista issues; assist with knowledge-base documentation; and diagnose and repair all customer hardware/software issues including PCs and laptops and PDAs. This person will test, configure, and install hardware/software; create and maintain computer images; produce status reports; and maintain up-to-date documentation for all assigned areas of responsibility.
Requirements:  A BS degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or related field is required. 4-8+ years of experience in the IT industry with hands-on experience in a server/client environment are required. Strong working experience with Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows 2003, Active Directory, VMWare, Exchange, IIS, and SQL Server; strong experience in configuration, maintenance, support and administration of a large IIS web server environment; and experience with Windows XP Professional/Vista and MS-Office 2007/XP/Vista is required. Strong knowledge of PC and laptop hardware including RAID, motherboards, chipsets, BIOS, software installation, patch management, troubleshooting techniques is required. Strong knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, and VPN) and troubleshooting physical and network connectivity to all network devices is required. Working knowledge of LAN/WAN hardware such as routers, switches, and firewalls, is required. The ability to use remote desktop access technology to assist in troubleshooting computer problems; the ability to manage a project from design to implementation/ documentation; and strong communication skills are required, to relate effectively with employees, vendors, and service providers. This requires a positive attitude and strong work ethic; a team player with excellent interpersonal skills. An attention to detail and commitment to quality is required. This person must be a well-rounded individual who is willing to learn, demonstrates initiative, and overcomes challenges. CompTIA A+, MCSE, CCNA or related certification is desirable.
