Description: This position will serve as a Senior Network Engineer/Architect, reporting directly to the Head of Network Engineering for a major Electronic Communication Network located in Downtown NYC.
In this role, you will have the following responsibilities:
- Provide network designs and innovative technical solutions based on business and technical requirements
- Be responsible for the design and implementation of the firm's network architecture
- Take a lead role in managing major network initiatives, high-level network designs, and deployments as well as coordinating technical issues with clients, vendors, and internal teams
- Create, coordinate, and execute implementation plans
- Test and certify IOS features before production roll-out
- Provide expert level troubleshooting, serve as a point person to work through a problem to its resolution
- Provide leadership and mentoring to Junior Engineers
- Provide detailed and effective communication to internal and external clients
- Identify support tools and work through integration life cycle (evaluation, selection, integration, and support hand-off)
- Interface and maintain relationships with the firm's business clients and internal technical teams as well as the firm's development team

Requirements: As the successful applicant, you will meet the following requirements (items are required unless noted otherwise):
- 5-10 years of Enterprise Network Engineering experience
- Heavy hands-on experience with Cisco Internetworking Equipment and Software (CCIE a plus)
- Experience developing complex network designs and solutions for Enterprise and ASP (Applications Service Provider) networks
- Experience with a wide range of WAN/LAN Network Topologies (Bundling techniques, TDM, D(C) WDM, Ethernet, SONET, and Wireless)
- Expert knowledge of IP networking (NAT, TCP/IP, Multicast, etc.)
- Hands on experience in implementing and integrating Routing Protocols (RIP/EIGRP/BGP/OSPF); must have expert knowledge of Layer 2 and 3 Switching
- Working knowledge of Internet routing (BGP), DNS, and security
- Experience with Network Based Load Balancing (Foundry Experience is a plus)
- Working knowledge of network management tools (HPOV, Packeteer, etc.)
- General understanding of network security (NetScreen Experience is a plus)
- An understanding of layered network designs and hierarchal network infrastructure models
- Experience in Financial organizations and their industry specific applications is a plus
- Working knowledge of Windows/UNIX Operating Systems
- Experience with designing and maintaining large cabling infrastructure (Structured and Unstructured)
- Experience with developing complex network design documents and presentations (PowerPoint and Visio)
