Description: Our client is seeking a dynamic and motivated Java J2EE Software Engineer with strong Ruby on Rails experience to join their Web Platform Development Group to help build a large successful eCommerce Web site platform.
This person will participate in all stages of software development including requirements gathering, systems analysis, project planning, documentation, design, development, and testing phases. This is an extremely challenging role that demands strong analytical and problem-solving skills for developing software that benefits many customers around the world.
Responsibilities:
- Work with business representatives to define requirements and developing technical specifications
- Mentor other Software Development Engineers in coding and debugging issues
- Communicate effectively to ensure that all business requirements are being assessed and addressed to ensure development projects meet or exceed performance targets
- Support day-to-day functional maintenance of the Web site services
- Participate in all activities accordingly to ensure on time deliverables are met including day-to-day planning and coordination with testers, developers, project managers, and business representatives
- Drive full life cycle product development
- Collaborate with business owners to solidify requirements and create measurable shopping experiences

Requirements: This company will be looking for a sharp Software Engineer with a creative edge, strong problem-solving skills, and a solid software development foundation to become a key contributor their company's next generation eCommerce technology.
The skills, experience, and knowledge required to be considered for this position include (items are required unless noted otherwise):
- 4-5 years of Web-based software development experience
- 3-4 years of Java J2EE and core Java programming skills
- Excellent Object-Oriented analysis and design skills (OOA/OOD)
- Strong demonstrated experience with Ruby on Rails, Spring, and Hibernate (highly desired)
- Proficiency in other languages such as C++, Perl, JavaScript, etc. (a plus)
- Experience working with relational databases such as Oracle and JDBC/Hibernate (a plus)
- Experience with XML-DTD, Schema, XSLT, and Native XML Databases (a major plus)
- Experience writing code in a high volume, Service Oriented Architectures (SOA) using Web Services and SOAP
- Ability to work in a fast paced Agile development environment
- Experience designing high-performance, scalable architectures
- Understanding of system and application performance limits and characteristics
- A self-starter to drive tasks to completion
- Excellent problem solving skills
- Excellent communication skills
- B.S. degree in Computer Science or a related field
