Description:  A world class software company specializing in financial services located in NYC seeks an Accounting Manager. This position reports into the controller and will manage a staff of 5 people. Responsibilities include:
  • Manage all accounting activity and staff
  • Month end close and preparation of financial statements
  • Manage the conduct of and preparation of all supporting schedules for month-end, mid-year and year-end annual audits, tax work, and miscellaneous audits including annual insurance audit
  • Update of accounting processes and procedures making best use of automation tools
  • Coordinate with Billing Group to meet financial reporting deadlines
  • Approval of A/P and A/R invoicing
  • Approval of new order processing forms for clients
  • Work with Contracts/Billing Group Manager to ensure accurate revenue recognition and invoicing setup with Contracts group
  • Drive continuous improvement and standardization within the functional area
  • Assist with annual internal audit program
  • Interaction with senior managers as needed
  • Variance analysis
  • Financial liaison with foreign parent corporation
  • Manage annual budget preparation and coordination

Requirements:  The skills, experience, and knowledge required to be considered for this position include:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • CPA/CMA is a plus
  • 7+ years of financial reporting and accounting experience
  • A minimum of 3 years of management responsibility
  • Experience with financial services or software company along with GAAP or IFRS revenue recognition rules (desired)
  • Track record of using appropriate tools to improve the efficiency of the accounting operation
  • Strong technical accounting background
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Accurate and attention to detail
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills; able to manage priorities and workflow
  • Good judgment with the ability to make timely and sound decisions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Dependability, flexible, and a team player
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft software packages, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and accounting systems (SAP is desired, SUN is a plus)
  • Ability to use software packages to automate the accounting and financial reporting process
  • Ability to successfully perform under strict deadlines and with minimal supervision
  • Work well under pressure
