Description: Research Informatics has recently implemented a Client Engagement Manager (CEM) role with the CEMs having responsibility for customer relationship management and also for assessing business needs and identifying solutions to address those needs in order to develop business cases for investment. To be successful at assessing business needs, the CEMs need to develop competencies in Enterprise Business Analysis. These competencies will also help the CEMs perform business analysis in the context of given projects when needed.
The primary purpose of this position is to mentor staff in the hard and soft practices needed to successfully perform these assessments, identify the best solutions, and develop business cases. The successful candidate will perform (limited to no business analysis on any specific initiative but rather will leverage his/her expertise) in business analysis, software life cycles, communication, and organizational change management to help the CEMs improve their overall capabilities.
Functions:
- Mentor designated CEMs across Research Informatics to perform enterprise business analysis; specifically to understand how to partner with customers to understand their business goals, assess the gaps and needs that need to be met to address those goals and recommend solutions
Examples of activities include, but are not limited to:
- Plan out the analysis approaches needed for specific initiatives
- Gather input from customers and other sources using a variety of hard and soft skills as appropriate
- Work with 'hard' skills which should include high level goal decomposition, process modeling, conceptual data modeling, pain point, and gap analysis
- Soft skills are expected to include facilitation techniques, negotiation techniques, communication approaches, and change management approaches

Requirements: Communications Qualifications:
- Proven track record in organizational change management (required to drive the needed change in the CEMs and also to help the CEMs understand how to drive change in their customer base)
- Pharmaceutical knowledge is a plus, but not required
- Expertise in pre-project enterprise analysis using a variety of methods to include goal decomposition, gap analysis, problem analysis, opportunity analysis, stakeholder analysis, business process modeling, conceptual data modeling, and the development of business cases
- Manage the overall requirements process and manage change in requirements over the project lifecycle
- Various approaches to eliciting requirements and when to use each (including, but not limited to interviewing, brainstorming, and surveys)
- Various approaches to analyzing and documenting requirements (including, but not limited to use cases, activity diagrams, and process models)
Communications:
- Excellent understanding of the IIBA Business Analysis Body of Knowledge (BABOK)
- Significant experienced with driving change in large organizations
- Excellent planning and execution skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Organized and able to deal with multiple teams at one time
- Comfortable dealing with ambiguity
