Description: Our client is seeking a Non-profit Finance or Grant Accounting candidate.
The responsibilities and duties of this position include but are not limited to:
- Manage the financial accounting setup of new grants and contracts awards
- Prepare periodic reports for foundations, corporations, endowments and government agencies in collaboration with Grants Management staff, as required
- Assist with preparation and analysis of monthly grant reports
- Track outstanding grants for cash-flow forecast and analysis
- Prepare journal entries for all grant accounting, including recognition of revenue and receivables, as appropriate
- Maintain schedules of all restricted grants and reconcile with donor records and general ledger on a monthly basis
- Update grants shared files, as needed
- Monitor compliance with grant restrictions and reporting
- Coordinate all program audits and related follow up
- Manage implementation of grant accounting within the general ledger
- Establish efficiencies in department processes to create timelier information with less manual involvement
- Supervise a staff of one, serve as a liaison between Grants Management and Finance
- Oversee a regular training program of grant accounting to all staff involved in the management of grants
- Prepare, maintain and disseminate written policies and procedures for grant accounting, including revenue recognition
- Assist with the budgeting process and clarification of expenses as requested

Requirements: The skills, experience, and education required for this position include the following:
- A BA/BS (Accounting/Finance) or commensurate experience
- A minimum of 8 to 10 years of experience in financial operations including post award grant activities
- Certified Public Accountant Certificate is a plus
- Ability to establish collaborative customer working relationships throughout Finance and Accounting
- Working knowledge of GAAP, State of Connecticut, and Federal regulations related to administration of grants programs and the reporting of grants activities
- Strong management, communication and analytical skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Must demonstrate analytic and problem-solving skills and the ability to meet regular and multiple deadlines
- Strong interpersonal skills are essential
