Description:  Kforce is seeking an Application Packager to be part of an established Team and process in a world class healthcare organization. This is an excellent opportunity to learn Altiris and apply skills with state of the art technology. This is a long term contract that could extend for 3+ years. The Application Packager (AP) will be focused on packaging Applications on a daily basis. The AP will receive requests from the team lead and then work with the Systems Administrator to package and test Applications. The AP will have to troubleshoot issues with the Systems Administrators and even end users at times but all of it would be done remotely. This is a business casual, professional environment; and day shift, background check, drug screen and TB Test is required.
Requirements:  Writing skills are a critical component. Critical technical writing skills are highly recommended, and detailed proofreading ability is a must. We can teach a person how to create packages but we can't teach them how to spell or the importance of proof reading. The skills, experience, and education required for this position include the following:
  • A high level of understanding of DOS and experience writing batch files/CMD scripts
  • Every package is placed in a CMD script be it MSI or Setup.exe or 10 MSIs with other supporting commands. The AP needs to be very comfortable and familiar with the command line
  • Expert managing Windows XP
  • The AP needs to know XP in and out and how to properly troubleshoot issues. They should know how to navigate windows using the keyboard
  • Experience with quality control
  • The AP should have an understanding of QA, how to perform it, what impact it has, etc. Follow detailed checklists explicitly based on an understanding of their impact. Extensive QA processes are involved, both sending things back before we start packaging and during the packaging process
  • Experience with software deployment and packaging. The AP does not need to be a VB scripter or a programmer but they should show solid logic and deductive reasoning skills
