Description:  Our client is seeking a Collections Specialist. Working under the general supervision of a Credit Analyst, this non-exempt position is responsible for handling the cash application function, assisting with company-wide billing and collection of specified accounts within the parameters of Client policies and procedures. Cash application (70%):
  • Ensure prompt and accurate application for a high volume of cash receipts (US and Canada customer base, approximately 5,500 accounts)
  • Process and apply customer credit card payments
  • Reconciliation and notes documentation of accounts
Billing (20%):
  • Assist in the daily billing process for US and Canada customer portfolio
  • Process credit/debit memo transactions accurately/timely
Collections (10%):
  • Assist Credit Analyst in the management customer deductions for a main distributor account
  • Effectively track and research outstanding deductions by teaming with internal and customer branch offices to ensure timely resolution
  • Contact customers by telephone to determine reasons for overdue payments
  • Provide copies of invoices or packing slips
  • Research any disputed balances or discrepancies until properly resolved
Requirements:  The skills, experience, and knowledge required to be considered for this position include (items are required unless noted otherwise):
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required; an Associate's Degree is preferred
  • 3+ years of strong work experience in a professional accounting department
  • Experience in a large manufacturing environment is preferred
  • Applied understanding of Basic Accounting Principals (Debits/Credits), processes and procedures
  • Demonstrated ability in Chargeback Resolution and Cash Application
  • Ability to multitask effectively in a high volume, fast-paced environment (time management skills)
  • Good working knowledge of AS400, Infinium, Microsoft Office, and Lotus Notes
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Manufacturing knowledge
