Description:  Our Metro Detroit client is seeking a Manager of Database Administration and Data Management for a direct-hire position. The Data Manager manages the enterprise Data planning and support functions. This person will be responsible for the development and maintenance of the enterprise Data and Database architecture and the Data and Database resource planning functions. This person provides recommendations for/seeks consensus and approval of Data architecture and Database strategies; and communicates Data architecture concepts, strategies and standards throughout the organization. The ideal candidate must have the ability to conduct long range strategic planning; support and translate company and department goals into ongoing work efforts; develop and negotiate contracts with vendors; lead and direct projects in a matrix organization; effectively motivate team members to achieve high quality results; oversee a variety of concurrent activities; communicate clearly, concisely and persuasively about complex, technical or sensitive topics; communicate effectively with others in a work environment and with the public. Candidates must be fully authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.
Requirements:  Candidates must have significant experience in database design and performance tuning; enterprise data modeling/warehousing; large scale project management; IT planning and data architecture development; data administration and standards; staffing, coordinating and leading large technology projects; evaluating a complex system and understanding the interdependencies between components; evaluating and selecting state of the art hardware and software products; identifying, analyzing and resolving complex problems; controlling and resolving changes in scope, timing, costs, quality and client satisfaction; and applying project management tools and techniques, and communicating technical concepts. Candidates must have extensive technical experience in/with: database design; data modeling tools and techniques; distributed server management systems (e.g. Oracle RAC, Microsoft SQL Server 2008); mainframe database management systems (e.g. DB2, IMS/DB); project management tools; capacity planning; multi platform capabilities; user interaction; operating systems (e.g. Linux, Unix). Candidates must have significant experience in case tools; development methodologies; join application design (JAD)/Rapid Application Design (RAD) techniques; relational database (e.g. DB2, Oracle). Candidates must have knowledge of: software/hardware evaluation and selection; LAN, WAN concepts, technologies and data administration issues; database trends and technologies; structure systems analysis, design, programming and testing; relational database concept; ITIL V2/V3 systems operation practices; security and control procedures; systems development methodologies; project management tools and techniques. Required:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, IS, Business Administration or related field; minimum of 5 years of management experience; minimum of 3 years directly managing a database administration team. Relocation is not available for this position.
