Description: The Software Quality Engineer will be responsible for working as part of the Software Quality Assurance team. This position is responsible for working with many groups within IT and with the business on analysis, design, and development efforts to ensure high-quality testable deliverables and to plan, design, develop, and execute automated and manual test cases and track defects. The Software Quality Engineer will be responsible for leading small to mid-size quality assurance efforts. This is a 6 month contract position and candidates must be eligible for hire.
Responsibilities:
- Design and write formal test plans and test specifications to address unit, system and integration testing
- Execute detailed test procedures, manual or automatic, designed to validate application functional requirements
- Ensure that software requirements are verifiable and quantifiable
- Writes test plans and build test cases with direct involvement from business customers
- Create and maintain automated test scripts
- Document defects in a tracking system
- Use automated testing tools
- Ensure that reliability considerations have been adequately addressed during the development life cycle
- Contribute to efficient and effective program and system solutions in solving light to medium-complex business problems
- Develop light to medium-complex programs and systems in support of software quality assurance processes and objectives
- Contribute to and support the corporation's quality initiatives by encouraging team and individual contributions toward the corporation's quality improvement efforts
- Provide project information to the project manager and lead developer
- Provide updates to management as required
- Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements: The successful applicant will be eligible for hire and will possess the following requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
- Four years of test engineering experience (additional years of experience may be substituted for a degree; five to seven years)
- Two years of experience working on complex projects
- Two years of experience leading and mentoring test staff
- Ability to work well with business customers and IT partners
- Technically proficient in core technologies and methodologies used by the team
- Ability to work with minimum direction
- Ability to plan and manage his/her own work
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
This position requires 2-3 years of test automation or development experience using an object oriented language, preferably Java or C#. This is demonstrated through:
- Experience using Rational Software's suite of products (Manual Tester, Functional Tester, and Performance Tester, version 7.0 or higher)
- Experience with Agile test methodology
- Experience with test automation development, creation, and execution
- Experience writing automated testing scripts
- Experience working with business partners in writing detailed test plans
- Experience with defect entry, management and stakeholder communication
