Description:  Kforce is seeking strong talented Inpatient and Outpatient coders for both short and long term contracts for prominent clients in New Mexico. Full time travel and housing are provided for those who are not local to the area. Join our Kforce team working within our client's Medical Records department as a strong member of their coding team. Under moderate supervision, you will primarily be responsible for reviewing and the analysis of inpatient, outpatient. Based on official coding guidelines, you will apply ICD-9-CM diagnosis and procedure codes to render appropriate reimbursement and meet regulatory coding requirements for their services rendered in an acute care trauma hospital facility. Responsibilities include:
  • Ensure the quality and integrity of coding which includes accurate determination of principal diagnosis, secondary diagnoses, primary procedure and secondary procedures based on all approved documentation in an inpatient record and the appropriate code assignment based on coding conventions
  • Assist in maintaining acceptable levels in accounts receivable based on predetermined HIM indicators
  • Contributes to the general efficiency of the section and the department

  • Adhere to Hospital Policies and Procedures
The compensation is $26 - $34/hr dependent upon experience and expertise. The duration of the assignment can be anywhere from 1 to 8+ months, pending your preference/availability.
Requirements:  Previous strong acute care inpatient and/or outpatient coding experience within a large setting are required. A minimum of 3 years of acute care inpatient and/or outpatient coding experience is required. Candidates must have CCS (AHIMA) coding certification or equivalent (i.e.- RHIA, RHIT, CPC-H, etc.). Extensive knowledge of ICD-9-CM coding conventions, medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, federal regulations and policies pertaining to documentation and billing is required.
