Description:  This person independently manages large modules of an enterprise clinical and/or financial information system, as well as departmental or specialty systems. This individual possesses a thorough understanding of general hospital operations, specific departmental workflow, and inter-relationships that exist between clinical and financial processes and associated data. The Senior Application Analyst possesses knowledge and skills across a range of software Applications and hardware platforms, and acts as a functional and technical leader by designing and implementing IT solutions to solve complex problems, improve patient care, and increase the efficiency of business practices. The Senior Application Analyst works closely with customers concerning the purpose, features, functions and proper use of software Applications. The Senior Application Analyst is capable of analyzing, designing, implementing and modifying software Applications to support business requirements and relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. The Senior Application Analyst position is viewed as a preparatory step for line supervision and/or management responsibilities, and may exercise functional supervision over members of a project team.
Requirements:  The skills, experience, and knowledge required to be considered for this position include:
  • Knowledge of clinical and/or financial operations in acute care facility
  • Extensive experience with system implementation and support
  • Willingness and availability to provide support systems during off hours as needed
  • Working knowledge of servers, pc's, healthcare vendor systems and marketplace
  • Successfully managed medium to large scale projects (system implementations, system conversions, major upgrades/enhancements)
  • Applied knowledge of structured project management methodologies
  • College degree is required, clinical licensure or other certifications are strongly preferred
Technical Environment:
  • 150 HP Servers: 90 per cent Windows NT 4.0/2000/2003 (10 per cent Unix/SUN)
  • 2500 Users (1500 nodes) - 2+ Buildings
  • Support peripherals: HP/Compaq desktops and laptops, Blackberrys and HP printers
  • Nortel Network is preferable but Cisco is OK if the candidate is experienced: 1500 plus node network
  • Meditech Clinical and Financials (will be replaced in 2-3 years by GE Healthcare suite) and Lawson ERP is core applications
