Description:  This person will develop and maintain the quality system for new and revised products which is consistent with corporate quality policy. This person will actively participate on product and process development projects and programs (APQP process) as the quality representative from the quality function; and provide technical support to product engineering, marketing, plants, etc. The responsibilities of this position include the following:
  • Develops Quality System for new products and product changes; including the development of inspection methods, inspection equipment, and inspection frequency
  • Facilitates and provides expertise in the development of FMEA's, Control Plans, Qualification Plans, etc., in new product and process development and / or changes
  • Performs statistical analysis for the qualification, control, and continuous improvement of processes, products, fixtures, and equipment
  • Supports and participates in the development of quality system procedures. May perform internal auditing of these procedures as a member of the internal audit team
  • Provides expertise in analyzing and solving internal and external quality issue
  • Participates in quality improvement programs to solve quality problems as assigned by supervisor
  • Addresses any supplier issues assigned by supervisor
  • Isolates and identifies problem areas and trends in production areas
  • Understands, supports, and contributes to TQM and Quality / Environmental Management Systems by following approved policies and procedures
Requirements:  The skills, experience, and education required for this position include the following:
  • Has full working knowledge, understanding, and application of all ISO-9000-2000 systems
  • 3+ years of related experience in quality and lean manufacturing areas is required
  • Experience in AQP and/or quality engineering in high volume product design and manufacturing group is preferred
  • Automotive cable or connect experience
  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Sciences is required; a Degree in Electrical or Optical Engineering is preferred
Skills:
  • Proficiency using tools such as FMEA, Process capability, statistical analysis
  • Demonstrating skills in teamwork, facilitation, and problem solving with knowledge of APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) is required
  • Prefer knowledge of Statistics, DOE, Structure problem solving, 5s, Mistake-Proofing, lean Six Sigma
  • Strong organization skills to anticipate, plan, and organize self-monitor workload
  • Verbal and written communication skills that demonstrate the ability to express ideas and exchange information clearly and concisely
