Title:  Senior Software Engineer - Video Analytics

Description:  This is a 6 month contract-to-hire position. This person will design, implement, and deliver high-throughput full-motion video content analysis software tools to solve problems in surveillance and reconnaissance. This person will develop computationally-intensive and data-intensive software solutions using cloud computing and data clouds; develop methods to analyze content in multiple video streams; and develop and implement software indexing strategies for archiving video and retrieving content in archived video. This person will implement software prototypes for system testing, design, and perform usability evaluations. This person will transform user requirements into conceptual and system designs. The position is responsible for leading and contributing to technical innovation by providing leadership in the development of video content analysis technology. It entails developing new capabilities and providing software solutions to an extensive range of complex problems. This involves leading decision-making within a project, with a key role in defining the technical approach and setting directions. The candidate may also be required to manage projects and tasks. In addition, the candidate is expected to enhance the technical and professional skills of junior staff through active mentoring and training.
Requirements:  The client is seeking experienced candidates in the area of video content analysis. Minimum qualifications include a B.S. Degree and 5 years of experience, an M.S. Degree and 3+ years of experience, or a Ph.D. and 1-2 years of experience. Degrees should be in a technical field such as electrical engineering, computer science, mathematics, statistics, or a related technical discipline. An advanced degree is preferred. The specific requirements of this position include:
  • An ability to design, develop, and implement full-motion video content analysis software solutions on a cloud architecture
  • An ability to develop video analytics and query-driven indexing schemes for rapid video database storage and retrieval
  • A history and passion for creativity and problem solving
  • An ability to prioritize and manage work assignments to meet deadlines while exercising discretion and good judgment
  • Strong oral and written communications skills
  • An ability to work effectively in interdisciplinary teams in a highly dynamic environment
