Description:  The Data Center Network Engineer's role is to ensure the availability, stability, and integrity of the Client's data, voice, and video network services. This is achieved by planning, designing, and implementing local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs) to support application deployments and expansion of the Client's Data Center Network environments. In addition, the Data Center Network Engineer will participate in the installation, maintenance, support, and optimization of all network hardware, software, and communication links. This individual will also analyze and resolve network hardware and software problems in a timely and accurate fashion. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop and present network engineering design packages
  • Develop low-level design documentation
  • Plan, design, and implement Local Area Networks, including development of configurations
  • Plan, design, and implement Wide Area Networks, including development of configurations
  • Plan, design, and implement Voice over IP (VoIP) Networks, including development of configurations
  • Implement routing protocols, including EIGRP, OSPF, and BGP
  • Troubleshooting and problem solving for network and application issues
  • Configure and assist with implementation of network hardware, including routers, switches, VoIP equipment, security appliances, etc.
  • Create and maintain network documentation as it relates to network topology, equipment, and configuration
  • Interact and negotiate with application owners, project managers, vendors, consultants, and contractors to design and implement network solutions
  • Perform network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information
  • Make use of standard operating procedures and applications for service, change, and incident management
Requirements:  The skills, experience, and education required for this position include the following:
  • Strong technical project management and engineering skills are mandatory
  • Able to effectively prioritize tasks in a high-pressure environment
  • Knowledge of HP C-Class, IBM P-Series F5 Load Balancers, Cisco ASA Security Firewalls, Symantec Netbackup, Oracle RAC, EMC, and Riverbed Steelheads
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Visio, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent customer service focus and analytical problem solving abilities
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication and presentation skills
  • Highly self motivated and directed, with a keen attention to detail
  • In-depth knowledge of Cisco IOS, EIGRP, BGP, OSPF and MPLS environments
  • Hands on experience with Cisco 3500, 3750, 4500, 6500 series equipment
  • Knowledge of IP traffic flow, protocol analysis, capturing and monitoring of live traffic streams
  • VoIP and IP telephony experience (including Cisco Call Manager and Unity) is preferred
  • Ability to document all aspects of Client IT network and services provided to users
Minimum Qualifications:
  • University degree in related field and/or equivalent work experience
  • Industry related certifications. Cisco CCIE certification is not required but a definite plus
  • 7 to 10 years of LAN/WAN engineering experience in a Global Enterprise Environment
  • 7 to 10 years of experience with Cisco equipment
  • 5+ years of experience designing, evaluating and recommending networking solutions
  • 7 to 10 years in the networking/telecommunications industry
  • 5+ years of working with telecommunications vendors
  • Experience with large construction projects
