Description:  The QA Project Manager is responsible for managing QA activities on key projects (large scale and highly visible) for Software Quality Assurance Department within the Business Technology Services organization. Functions Include:
  • Ensure that all activities from initial project planning to post-production deployment are executed effectively and that project stakeholders are kept continuously informed of project status and risks
  • Field project estimation requests from Business leaders in peer organizations and tracks them through budget approval
  • Work with other QA Project Managers and QA Managers to determine staffing needs on individual projects and creates detailed project / resource schedules
  • Monitor project budget to ensure that project costs are kept within budget parameters and pursue solutions to budgetary risks when and where they occur
  • Be responsible for ensuring that QA involvement in all project related activities from initial project planning through post-production deployment is achieved successfully and in a timely, structured, and repeatable manner
  • Maintain a detailed project plan for assigned projects and publishes weekly project status reports to keep project stakeholders abreast of status and risks
  • Serve at the primary QA point of contact to various stakeholders in other groups (Needs Management, Release Management, Development, and Senior Management) to ensure that cross-functional issues are responded to in a timely manner
  • Lead all change Management practices and related communication within the context of assigned projects on behalf of the QA organization
  • Identify the impact of project changes in terms of results (cost, quality, and timeliness) as well as budget and work with cross-functional project stakeholders to pursue necessary mitigation
  • Work proactively with Project Managers in peer organizations to strengthen and refine existing software life cycle processes
Requirements:  QA Project Manager Qualifications:
  • Significant experience in Web Services architectures, ESB, and BizTalk
  • Demonstrated leadership ability along with past experience leading technical projects of substantial size and scope
  • Significant experience (5+ years) with Web-based applications and their delivery to production
  • Expert knowledge of industry standard technical project management methodologies along with their introduction, deployment, and practical application
  • Expert knowledge and understanding of the software development life cycle
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment where resourcefulness, determination, and strong problem-solving skills are necessary for success
  • Effective at managing shifting priorities, demands, and timelines in a collaborative problem-solving manner
  • Positive attitude and the ability to complete objectives of broad scope as assigned and with minimal supervision
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as solid presentation skills
  • PMP Certification is a strong plus
  • QA experience with financial applications is a significant plus
  • Typically requires a B.S. degree in Engineering and 6+ years of experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience (M.S. degree plus 4 years of experience)
