Description: Our client is seeking a Director of Engineering.
Duties:
- Lead and manage a diverse team of Software Application, Embedded, Electrical, and Mechanical Engineers who have the responsibility for a complex, inter-dependent system
- Work with management to prepare and manage technical project / program plans, resource allocation, and budget for area of responsibility
- Oversee and manage software projects, sustainment, and support throughout the product life cycle including customer interfacing
- Train and manage engineers in techniques and project progress; have monthly management reviews

Requirements: Requirements Include:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering
- Graduate degree (preferred)
- Minimum 15 years of professional work experience in engineering organizations
- Minimum 5 years of experience managing a software or firmware engineering team and leading / participating in engineering development projects which utilize a high level of software and/or firmware; using an integrated product team or cross organizational team approach
- Experience managing complex systems with Software Development (Java), Database Architectures, Embedded systems, Hardware, Wireless, and Mechanical Components
- Previous experience managing teams of 7-15 Engineers, building a team environment
- The ideal candidate will have a previous hands-on background in Java application development with more recent experience in products utilizing embedded systems, hardware, and mechanical components
- Experience with a wireless product is highly desired, preferably ZigBee
- Experience working in small companies and nurturing the small company culture with a focus on collaborative approaches
- Has a track record for driving high-quality products to market on time (to be referenced)
- Solid understanding of designing products that are manufacturable
- Ambitious, eager to learn, and passionate about his/her work
- Good understanding of Project Management principles and methodologies
- Strong leadership skills and excellent communication skills
