Title:  Staff Accountant

Compensation:  $60.00 to $75.00 per Year

Description:  Our client is seeking a Staff Accountant. This person will support the accounting and finance functions in preparation for audit, taxes, budget and other corporate filings. Specific Responsibilities: Fixed Assets:
  • Enter new assets into the fixed assets sub-system monthly
  • Prepare journal entries and reconcile subsystem to GL monthly
  • Assist with preparation of DC Personal Property Tax return
Bank Reconciliations:
  • Complete monthly reconciliations for all bank accounts as part of month end close process
Investments:
  • Prepare monthly entries to record investment transactions
  • Prepare account reconciliations monthly
Budget Preparation and Analysis:
  • Assist with preparation of operating, capital, and convention budgets
  • Prepare monthly variance analysis and account research
Primary Back-up for Payroll:
  • Enter and submit payroll, create manual checks as necessary
  • Prepare payroll payables as necessary
This person will be responsible for other Balance Sheet Reconciliations as required. This person will assist with the preparation of Audit Schedules and other duties as assigned. Internal Relations: Reports to Director, Financial Reporting. Maintains effective relationships with NAB staff. External Relations: Maintains effective relationships with vendors and other external partners.
Requirements:  To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies to perform the essential functions of this position. The ability to ensure continual innovation in process is essential. Candidates must have automated accounting software experience and report writer. Strong Microsoft Office skills, the ability to meet daily deadlines and work in a fast paced office environment; and the ability to be detail oriented is required. A minimum of two years of experience in transaction processing is required. The skills, experience, and education required for this position include the following:

  • In-depth knowledge of spreadsheet and word-processing applications within a Windows environment
  • Must be familiar with DC sales tax rules
  • Great Plains software experience
  • Non For Profit experience
  • Must be a CPA or CPA candidate
