Description: Our client is seeking a Cost Accountant to perform advanced cost-accounting work covering material and production costs, costs of sales, research and product development, etc. This person will compare actual costs to estimates and analyze variances; and develop standard cost data and accurate inventory valuations.
The responsibilities of this position include the following:
- Reviews daily variance, investigates causes, trains supervisor/employees to avoid recurrences, and communicates resolution with supervisor
- Works with production on reviewing accuracy of bills of material and routings and follow-up to ensure changes are made
- Performs operational audits by routinely following all products through the plant and compare to existing routings and bills of materials
- Maintains standard cost system. Develops cost analysis where necessary. Works with purchasing to ensure costs for purchased products are received and updated
- Performs Burden studies
- Researches significant inventory adjustments and report findings to supervisor
- Runs production accounting and investigates any variances
- Prepares journal entries as required
- Analyzes Costs for new Product Quoting working with Engineering/New Product Planning
- Prepares reports for the accounting manager and recommends changes in estimating process as indicated
- Recommends systems and procedures applicable to the Cost Accounting function
- Performs and directs special projects as requested

Requirements: The skills, experience, and education required for this position include the following:
- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration with advanced training in accounting
- Skill in math, accuracy and precision; interest in business, organized, willingness to follow recommended procedures; honesty, patience, good written and oral communication skills, good people skills, team player, knowledge of EDP-oriented accounting systems
- Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in an accounting field
- Working knowledge of Cost Accounting principles, practices, and procedures
- Oracle Experience
- HFM / Hyperion experience
- Good analytical and organizational skills
- Good knowledge of Excel and computerized accounting and costing systems
