Description: Our client is seeking an IP Coding Auditor with APR experience.
Responsibilities for this position include:
- Performs routine auditing of coded cases to ensure that all ICD-9-CM codes assigned are accurate, supported by the clinical documentation in the record and in compliance with applicable coding guidelines
- Supports the Coding Manager in ensuring that the APR-DRG and APG assignments made accurately reflect the hospital case mix and severity so that revenue can be recorded accurately
- Provides support to the Coding Manager in educating Coders on trends identified through the routine audits so that education can be provided on a frequent and routine basis
- Acts as liaison and helps to provide professional guidance to Case Managers involved in APR-DRG and APG assignment and documentation problems
- Supports the Coding Manager in all functions to ensure compliance with all regulatory guidelines related to coding
This is a full-time role that works the day shift, 8 AM to 4:30 PM. The working conditions are a normal office environment and the salary is $24.00 - $38.00.

Requirements: Minimum requirements for this position include:
- Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) and RHIT a must
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in all phases of acute care facility coding and abstracting (inpatient, emergency room, ambulatory surgery, and ancillary)
- Coding experience must include in-depth knowledge of ICD-9-CM, CPT-4, HCPCS, DRG's, APR-DRG's, APG's, and POA determination
- Registered Health Information Technology (RHIT)
- Excellent organizational skills
- Detail oriented
- Must demonstrate knowledge of groupers and encoders
- Ability to work well with professional and medical staff
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex technical reports, guidelines, policies and procedures and common financial reports
- Ability to respond to inquires or complaints from customers and regulatory agencies
- Ability to effectively present information to physicians, management groups, and interdisciplinary teams
- Ability to define problems, collect data and summarize in a meaningful way, establish facts, and draw conclusions
- Work requires considerable latitude to decide what work will be required well in advance of the actual activities
- Guidelines may not be available in some cases
- Anticipating needs and taking initiative are required, as well as the ability to coordinate, prioritize, and organize
