Description: This person assists in the sale of telecommunication business solutions for voice, data and video. Target customers include medium to large enterprise businesses, as well as educational, government, and other specific market verticals. The position requires an in-depth working knowledge across multiple technical disciplines. Responsibilities include technical customer visits, customer conference calls and network design.
The responsibilities of this position include the following:
- Accompanies sales professionals on sales visits, as needed
- Supports the sales organization as the technical subject matter expert
- Conducts site surveys to determine customer requirements and network compatibility
- Develops and executes technical presentations to internal/external groups as needed
- Partners with sales organization to determine customer requirements, develops proposals or contracts as needed
- Interfaces with customers and vendors to ensure the integrity and compatibility of Company proposals
- Works with the test lab to ensure the feasibility of all new/custom products and solutions
- Interfaces with Operations and Engineering to ensure network availability/serviceability before orders are finalized
- Attends data group and network meetings
- Meets or exceeds given performance metrics goals
- Verifies and documents customers technical requirements for post-sale installation
- Understands the core network and communicates network changes to the sales team
- Works with the product champions as active part of product rollout teams

Requirements: The individual must have a proficient knowledge of and strong technical expertise related to multiple defined practice areas including Voice and Voice CPE, IP communications, network technologies, convergence solutions (VoIP), LAN/WAN protocols, managed services, and security. Candidates must have excellent customer interaction and presentation abilities, be self-motivated and pay high attention to detail.
Training and Experience:
- 5+ years of direct network engineering and design experience is required. CCNA is required
- CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent is preferred
- Expert knowledge of TCP/IP and the OSI model
- Expert knowledge of WAN and LAN technologies
- An in-depth knowledge of industry standard protocols and applications, including BGP, DNS, EIGRP, HSRP, MPLS, Multicast, NAT, OSPF, QoS, SONET, STP, VPLS, and VPN
- Strong skills and experience with router and switch hardware, carrier services, network services, network management, and network termination equipment
- Expertise in all layers of data communications, customer applications, and associated technologies
- Experience in designing highly available, reliable, and scalable network architectures
