| Description: This position is responsible for supporting Direct Marketing efforts through the use of advanced statistical techniques to assist in test design, build targeting models, build other models as required (for example Member Present Value) and serve as a resource to help others with advanced analytics using SAS. These efforts will be vital in ensuring the maximum effectiveness of the Direct Marketing efforts. The Statistician will be responsible for helping to elevate the level of analytical rigor team-wide. This position will be dedicated to support the Acquisition and Retention strategies for Medicare Direct Marketing. This person will develop and maintain statistical models to support lead generation, member conversion, and retention efforts; be self-sufficient from a model building perspective, starting with validating input data quality, understanding the limitations of the data and the context it was collected in, building an effective model, validating the model on a 2nd data set, helping to quantify the effectiveness of the model and then monitoring model performance as it is used. This person conducts analysis with a focus on experimental design, measurement of current programs, evaluation of proposed programs, behavioral analysis, data mining, customer segmentation, predictive modeling, and other relevant statistical analyses. This role will consult with Database Analysts on business need and recommend statistical tools and approaches best suited to the situation. This person will be an active member of the Database Marketing team and participate in our efforts to drive Membership growth.
Key Relationships include the following: Business line management, Business line systems development, Regional sales and marketing management, Client IT support staff/programmers, Colleagues and peers, Vendor Partners, external consultants.

Requirements: Minimum Requirements:
- A Bachelors Degree in quantitative field such as Econometrics, Marketing Research, Statistics, Management Sciences, Operations Research or Math is required; Masters Degree is optional
- 3-5 years of experience in building predictive models, ideally using SAS
- Experience in other forms of statistical analytical techniques
- Willing to learn about Database marketing and the Medicare market
- Expertise in at least one statistical analysis tool (SAS, SPSS, or R)
- Knowledge of industry leading analytical tools and applications and the ability to use those tools, apply queries, and statistical methods to support business needs
- Understanding of data intricacies and ability to interpret data and express implications of analysis to clients
- Presents findings, conclusions and recommendations to appropriate internal partners and clients
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
