Description:  A growing and established semiconductor company in the Austin, TX area is looking for a Senior Applications Engineer with the PLL based Mixed Signal IC experience. We are looking for candidates nationwide willing to relocate to the Austin, TX area. Once again, the position is in the Austin, TX area. Summary: Provides engineering, technical, and sales support for Silicon Timing device product functionalities and features to win designs with end customers. Essential Functions:
  • Provides technical assistance to customers by phone, email, and in-person visits (assisting a customer in designing and programming parts)
  • Creates and provides technical sales training to field personnel
  • Visits customer sites to provide technical backup for sales and marketing personnel
  • Designs, debugs, and documents demonstration and evaluation boards
  • Manages technical content of product datasheets (specification tables, application diagrams)
  • Actively works with customers on design activities
  • Actively works with sales on design-in activities
  • Participates in design validation
  • Performs and documents results of bench characterization
Requirements:  A BSEE/MS is preferred with 5+ years of experience supporting timing IC devices such as oscillators or clocks or 7+ years of supporting PLL based mixed signal products. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong knowledge of engineering fundamentals and methodologies
  • Excellent written and verbal presentation skills
  • Working knowledge of phase locked loops or control systems
  • Working knowledge of signal integrity issues, simulations, and solutions
  • Working knowledge of semiconductor quality and process controls
  • Schematic capture and PCB design skills
  • Familiarity with circuit-level simulation tools
  • Knowledge of proper and effective use of lab test equipment
  • General analog and digital circuit analysis skills (including noise effects)
  • System analysis skills
  • Ability to troubleshoot and debug systems, circuits, and devices
  • Strong customer interface skills
  • Technical documentation authoring and editing skills
  • Knowledge of software programming tools or soldering and rework tools
  • Familiarity with quality procedures and documentation
