kforce employees unite for flight of hope: Bahamas

Tampa associates collect and transport supplies in the wake of Hurricane Dorian

Tampa, FL – September 6, 2019 – Immediately following Hurricane Dorian’s devastating impact in the Bahamas, Kforce staffing services and solutions began collecting donations at their Tampa headquarters for supplies and funds to support relief efforts. On Friday, September 6, Kforce employees, donors and other members of the community loaded approximately 4,500 pounds of supplies in a large private jet to be flown to the Bahamas.

“Over the years, this country has become near and dear to the Kforce family as we’ve experienced many fond memories there. With three recent employee incentive trips there, many of us have felt the unique culture and warm hospitality of the Bahamian people,” said Kforce Chief Executive Officer, David Dunkel.

This Flight of Hope carried much-needed supplies including hygienic products, first aid supplies, non-perishable food items, batteries, formula and more. The supplies arrived in Nassau this afternoon and will be distributed to Freeport by helicopter or ferry until airports can reopen.

In the coming weeks, at least five more flights have been coordinated and funded by Kforce, ExecuJet, Fezziwig Foundation, Sheltair, Tampa Print USA, Tampa Bay Harvest, Odyssey Airways, Our Daily Bread Tampa,  ADVenture Marketing, Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, Hope Children’s Home, Hope and Health Project, USF Health, Tampa General Hospital and Moffit Cancer Center.

With multiple major storms making landfall over the last two years, Kforce has a history of committing to disaster relief and recovery for communities impacted. After Hurricane Michael in 2018, 10,368 meals were packed and hand-delivered by employees to different areas in the panhandle and Panama City. Following Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria in 2017, the firm partnered with American Red Cross to meet a $1 million fundraising goal.

Due to the unique challenges faced by Puerto Rico following Hurricane Maria, Kforce also collaborated with several partners in the Tampa Bay community to charter the Flight of Hope: Puerto Rico. The flight delivered over 200 generators, 5,000 pounds of medical supplies, 200 water filtration systems, 200 gas cans and 100 household items. Once in Puerto Rico, doctors and nurses aboard the plane ran a triage at a local university, and the return flight transported 44 Puerto Rican residents in need of medical care to Tampa.
